If you haven’t seen our other articles covering magic items in TCoE, they’re a great place to get caught up! The article below will cover the Reveler’s Concertina, Rhythm-Maker’s Drum, and the Shadowfell Brand Tattoo magic items. At the conclusion of this series, we’ll also begin to cover the new spells available in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything.
REVELER’S CONCERTINA Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement by a bard) While holding this concertina, you gain a +2 bonus to the saving throw DC of your bard spells. As an action, you can use the concertina to cast Otto’s irresistible dance from the item. This property of the concertina can’t be used again until the next dawn.
RHYTHM-MAKER’S DRUM Wondrous item, uncommon (+l), rare (+2), very rare (+3) (requires attunement by a bard) While holding this drum, you gain a bonus to spell attack rolls and to the saving throw DCs of your bard spells. The bonus is determined by the drum’s rarity. As an action, you can play the drum to regain one use of your Bardic Inspiration feature. This property of the drum can’t be used again until the next dawn.
SHADOWFELL BRAND TATTOO Wondrous item (tattoo), rare (requires attunement) Produced by a special needle, this magic tattoo is dark in color and abstract. Tattoo Attunement. To attune to this item, you hold the needle to your skin where you want the tattoo to appear, pressing the needle there throughout the attunement process. When the attunement is complete, the needle turns into the ink that becomes the tattoo, which appears on the skin.
If your attunement to the tattoo ends, the tattoo vanishes, and the needle reappears in your space. Shadow Essence. You gain darkvision with a range of 60 feet, and you have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. Shadowy Defense. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to become insubstantial for a moment, halving the damage you take. Then the reaction can’t be used again until the next sunset.
