Coronavirus in Mexico as of April 7: 596 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours

This Wednesday, April 7, the Ministry of Health (SSA) reported that the new coronavirus had left a record of 205,598 deaths, which represents 596 deaths in the last 24 hours. As for the accumulation of cases, they are estimated at 2,455,816.

From the National Palace, as part of the dynamics established by the health institution, José Luis Alomía, director of Epidemiology, was in charge of reading the COVID-19 technical report, which indicates, in addition to the accumulated record of the disease, the active epidemic, epidemiological incidence, hospital occupancy and progress in the national vaccination day against SARS-CoV-2, which is currently in phase 2, which deals with immunizing older people.

Regarding the active epidemic, the official indicated that as part of the downward trend that has been maintained in the republic since January of this year, the percentage of active cases continues at 1%, which is equivalent to 25,855 patients. This means that in the last 14 days, this is the total number of COIVD-19 infected. It should be remembered that these are the ones that can infect more people.

Regarding hospital occupancy, the numbers continue to favor Mexicans since hospital occupancy is at 19%. This was due to the reduction in the infectious incidence reflected in the beds used to care for COVID-19 patients.

Specifically, in general beds (without artificial respiration support), there is an occupancy of 18%, which means that of the 31,137 beds in total, 25,673 are available, and 5,464 are occupied. By entity, Alomía referred that no state has an occupation greater than 30%.

Likewise, in the SARI beds report (Serious Acute Respiratory Infection), the report of beds with a ventilator (with artificial respiration support) is included, which is 22 percent. This means that of the 10,897 beds in total, 8,554 are available, and 2,343 are occupied. Regarding this item by entities, there are four that maintain an occupation of between 30 and 49 percent: Mexico City, Chihuahua, Querétaro, and Tabasco. All other states are below 30 percent.

Regarding the reduction in hospital occupancy, the Director of Epidemiology specified that this is a reflection of the decrease in infectious incidence. Since Tuesday 6, Puebla was the only entity ranked with an occupancy greater than 30% in general beds, and Yucatán was included in the same category for beds with a fan; however, this result was reversed for this Wednesday.

Similarly, the advancement of vaccination continues in Mexico. According to what was referred by the public servant, until the cut-off at 4:00 p.m. (Central Mexico time), the health authorities applied 314,666 injections this Tuesday. This amounts to 10,089,420. About the total number of injections used,

In this area, Hugo López-Gatell, Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, presented the accumulated numbers of cases that have presented reactions to active substances in vaccines. In this regard, he pointed out a total of 14,218 notified cases (0.1%), of which 143 (1%) are indicated as serious.

By pharmaceutical laboratory, the list is headed by Pfizer-BioNTech with 12,911; AstraZeneca follows it with 545, SinoVac with 530, Sputnik V with 189, CanSino with 37, finally they reported three in the categories “unknown” and “vaccines abroad.”
